The Laser 2000 gives superb performance whilst staying manageable for less experienced sailors, it's popularity has grown tremendously over the last few years, sailing schools and clubs like the boat for it's simplicity and "easy to sail" design. A great introduction to asymmetric sailing. The strength of the Laser 2000 and the Class Association is such that boats attract premium second hand values. The class has a large following with a mixture of a competitive racing circuit and successful ‘L2kplay’ events where anything except serious racing is on the cards! Many boats are raced by families who regularly swap crews around. Enabling the whole family to enjoy the boat. The enthusiasm of the members guarantees newcomers a warm welcome. Our Champions, and lead boats, are keen to encourage any less experienced boats and are very approachable. The regular training events have resulted in a steady improvement throughout the fleet. 2009 events include the Class Nationals at Hayling Island Sailing Club, Inlands at Ullswater Yacht Club plus Series events and Open meets around the country. 50 Boats competed in this years, 2008, Nationals at Penzance SC. The Laser 2000 has so many good things going for it. Joining the Class Association enables any owner to get the best from it. Together they make a great combination.
