I'd like to get the FGSC Forum back up its feet again - can you help?

I've updated the FGSC forum in a few ways to get things going, but need help in refining it and getting some content online before widening it to general club members.

What's changed:

* It's still the new forum setup, just updated. I had a look at the old forum, but it doesn't easily dovetail with existing website user management. I'm hoping the new forum will be equally as good as its predecessor.

* As requested, the forum is now readable by the world without having to log in, but still requires a valid login to post content.

* People can have profile pictures, but I'm keeping most other things tied down as search engines like to gobble-up email addresses and such like - even when they've been told not to!

* Name changes aren't allowed at the moment as they might be tangled up with login/password the way things stand. If I can untangle this then I'll relax the restriction.

* You can post pictures, but they have to be small(ish) as we don't have that much server space. This should be enough to post internet-friendly pics, but not high-res shots. We can use Facebook photos and potentially things like Drop-Box for larger images and reference them from the forum if required. If we really want high-res photos then we'll have to stomp up cash for extra storage.

* I've created a number of categories and sub-categories that I hope reflect what we do and talk about in the club.

* I'm trying to make the login/registration process simpler and less painful. This is work in progress that I'm hoping to finish before we get general members in.

Way forward

The forum lives and dies by content and this is where you come in. To seed some thoughts...

* Fleet captains - There should be a home for your specific area and I'm sure you must have regular questions you might like to post topic on for new joiners.

* Sailing rules and hearings

* Races - Reports from open days, Wednesday and Sunday racing.

* Training - RYA, Laser and Solo training

* FAQ - What do I wear, what's the best boat for me, insurance, where to get repairs done, where do I get spares/replacements ...

* For sale/wanted...
