Information for members

Situations Vacant

Would you like to get even more out of your membership of FGSC? Why not take on some responsibility for some of the essential tasks that underpin the running of the club? At present we have the following positions available on the Committee:
  • Social Secretary – to co-ordinate the Club’s social programme with the help of the Social Sub-Committee. New ideas welcome.
  • Bo’sun – to supervise and undertake the maintenance of the Clubs boats, engines and power tools. Good mechanical skills essential.

Duties of the Officer of the Day

We intend to implement the Dutyman system over the coming months (for details see the Dutyman site - http://www.dutyman.biz/). Please would all Members send an email from the address they would like us to use to notify them of their OOD duty to dutyman@fishersgreensc.org.uk

  • Officers of the Day (OODs) are appointed by the Management Committee from the Membership to assist in the safe and efficient running of the Club during its opening hours.
  • The OOD Rota is published in “Clubline” and a reminder is sent shortly before a Member’s turn comes round. Members who cannot attend should advise the Rota Secretary, whose details are shown in “Clubline” and on the reminder notice, as soon as possible, in order that a more convenient date may be assigned.
  • Duties include rendering assistance to the Safety Officer (Water), Race Officer, Galley Manager and Bar Steward as well as assisting with Site and Clubhouse management, maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • On arrival at the Club, OODs should sign the OOD Book and report to the Security Officer (or other Committee Member) who will assign duties in accordance with the needs of that day.
  • All OODs should remain within the Club site boundaries during the time that the Club is open and must not depart without notifying the Security Officer.
  • OODs are a vital part of the efficient running of the Club and it is important that you attend when it is your turn. Your fulfilment of these duties, which only arise, at most, once in every 12 months, assists the Club to maintain subscriptions at an affordable level and is one of the responsibilities laid down in the Club Constitution and Rules to which you affirm when you accept Membership.
Please Note: Anyone accompanying an OOD would be very welcome to assist in the galley and at the counter on duty days or, for that matter, at other times.
