Welcome message

Let me extend a warm welcome to Fishers Green Sailing Club.

We are a friendly club situated in the picturesque Lee Valley Regional Park with competitive Club Racing, casual sailing, a vibrant youth Cadet fleet and a well-respected Model Boat section.  There are social events throughout the year and plenty of opportunities to sail or to help out.  You can reach our membership secretary on membership@fishersgreensc.org.uk for more information.

The Model Boat Section members are full members of the Fishers Green Sailing Club and  have full use of the club facilities including the clubhouse.

Model boater's can operate their models anywhere, provided they don't impinge on the full size sailors. In practice this means operating on the area by our 'mini clubhouse' and if desired then going out onto the larger areas of the lake. The water is not suitable for wading but a full rescue service is provided. There is a hard edge to the launching area and no requirement for wellingtons. Launching straps or frames are recommended for larger boats.

Parking is next to the sailing area where there are tables available for setting up the boats before launch.

Normal model boat sailing times are 9.30 am to 2 pm on Sundays, but the club is also open on Saturdays and on Wednesday evenings in the summer. For safety reasons, the only access restriction is that at least two model boating members are present to sail their models. We like to operate all the year round, so there is no closed season in the winter and have even been known to break the ice to operate the models.

The only types of model boat not allowed are those with i/c engines. All other types of model boat are welcome.
